I’ve been musing about these ideas, thoughts, reactions for some time.
1.I get a kick out of all those who post their “magic” keys, secret sauce and best advice on being a leader…who never held that position.
2. It’s very hard to me to feel connected to the person interested in a (BUZZWORD ALERT) “Deep Dive” when there is not pool or ocean in sight.
3. If you’re going to talk about (BuzzWord Alert) “unpacking” I better see some suitcases.
4. When I receive an invite to linkedin from someone I don’t know and they don’t tell me why they want to connect, I won’t.
a. Just because we may have 76 links in common, doesn’t mean we should.
b. If the personalized invites sounds like the beginning of me being on a marketing list for your product or service, we will not be linked. I get enough spammy offers…even from people I know.
c. #linkedin’s initial mission was to increase our #connections and connectedness NOT to be a sales tool.
.5 If you describe a problem with the company’s employees communication issues and use the work “SILO” you better be talking about a farm.
.6 If you say you “hate #networking” but are thrilled with shared leads, referrals and kindnesses of which you are the recipient, that is disingenuous!
Corollary: Please STOP saying you Hate #networking when you mean you are uncomfortable walking into a room full of strangers. Knowing #howtoworkaroom® is different than networking.
