My BLOG Sabbatical Is OVER!

When I was a teacher we knew that in the 7th year, we were entitled to a Sabbatical to renew, recharge and replenish our education, interests and experiences. It was based on the “On the 7th day, he rested” formula. By the time I had taught seven years, the world changed and so did honoring the practice.

I decided to re-instate it with The RoAne Resting and Rejuvenating Sabbatical… from blogging and writing a monthly newsletter and travel. Instead, I focused on podcast guesting, tweeting and staying connected with colleagues, clients, classmates, cousins and friends!

Because pulmonologists, virologists and epidemiologists are my heroes, I followed their warnings and advice and traveled NOWHERE. After over 38 years of biz travel, Covid cut my wings. Friends were flying; but I didn’t. Then I had an epiphany. It was time to dip my toes in the travel waters.

I want to take a trip Chicago in the summer and to Europe in the fall. It seemed like a BIG jump from going nowhere to a 4 or 14 hour trip with a different state or continent on the other end.

Solution: take a “TRAINING WHEELS” TRIP. Every time I think about that term, I see my 1st bike with training wheels. It’s been 2 1/2 years since I visited my friend in Palm Springs area. It was time to get back on the horse or plane. It’s a short trip to visit friends— who are also cautious.

My self-assessment is that I was never complacent but I, thankfully, complied.

My sabbatical from blogging, newsletters and travel is over and I loved every minute of it!

See you on my site, in your in-box and in the air!
