Tips for Working with Speakers
The planner/speaker partnership is one that is special. Here are
some thoughts I have accumulated over these last 25 years:
 |
A professional speaker should have: Pre and post
surveys, questionnaire, room set up, speaker needs, a contract/letter
of agreement, handout (educational, NOT promotional). |
 |
Back of the room sales is your decision. There are many speakers
who do not do it and others who will gladly honor your wishes. |
 |
Local bookstores will come to conventions to sell books and
tapes and they will give multiple sales discounts. Ingram has
accounts with many companies and associations that have inhouse
book/resource centers. |
 |
NIGHTMARE Prevention: Many best-selling authors are wonderful
speakers...even more are not!!! That is why they write! Make sure
that the best-selling author can deliver a program and understands
the profession of running a business as a speaker. |
 |
Insist that a speaker arrive early
enough so that you are not given cause to worry. Relying on timely
plane arrivals is not a good idea. Are there any anymore??? |

about the
R E S P E C T which is mutual to make meeting a success. |
